Discovery Cruisers is a small, privately run business operating classic steel Super Van Craft. The Super Van Craft stands out from the usual charter boats, both in terms of quality and elegance. If you are looking for a relaxing way to cruise the Shannon look no further than this exceptional boat.
You don't need a licence but we do ask that our customers do have some boating experience. When you arrive we will give you as much instruction as you need until you feel comfortable to operate the boat yourself. The boat also has a detailed manual on board explaining all of her systems.
There is a chart on board to help you with your navigation and we will be delighted to give you suggestions on how to plan your trip.
You will be charged for the fuel that you have used at the end of your trip. SMART cards are needed to use the shore facilities and the locks.. They cost €6.35 for 10 units and €12.70 for 20 units. Units on the SMART card can also be used for shower (2) washing machine (5) tumble dryer (5). Locks and bridges on the River Shannon are also charged at approximately 1.50 euros each.
On board the 24 volt system is used for running most of the electrical equipment like fridge etc. While moored up the 220v shore power can be connected to run larger items like hair dryers. Freya is also fitted with an inverter so you can use 220v items at any time. She has a new air heating system if the weather gets cold.
Life jackets are provided for each crew member. In addition fire extinguishers and carbon monoxide gas detectors are fitted. Each year Freya is inspected to insure she complies with the highest safety standards.
No we provide bed linen and towels. All cooking utensils are also provided.
Upon booking we will send you a welcome pack explaining all the options for making travel arrangements to the marina.
A deposit of approximately 25% of the total hiring fee is required at the time of booking. Your booking is only confirmed when the signed completed booking form together with the deposit has reached Discovery Cruisers. The hirer is responsible for the whole of the hire fee and the balance must be paid One Calendar Month before the day of embarkation. A security deposit of €2,500 is required to be paid on the day of departure. This will be refunded at the end of your trip after a damage inspection has been carried out.
